About Science Days
Foster your curiosity with hands-on experience in STEM fields, explore and prepare for future careers, and compete for awards and scholarships at county, regional, and state Science Days.
Science Day allows students to do more than just read about science — you get to actually do science!
Eligibility
Students in grades 5 – 12 residing in and/or attending public, private, virtual, or home school within the Upper Miami Valley Ohio counties of Champaign, Darke, Miami, or Shelby, or in an adjacent local school district included by prior agreement.

Program Steps
Student Orientation
- Attend orientation at your school in October
- Sign up with your teacher to participate
Read Rules and Policies
- See Rules and Policies in our Student Resources section below
Prepare Project
- Select a topic, perform background research and include citations
- Design your experiment - Refer to Student Resources section below
- Submit your research plan for approval with help from your teacher
Project Board
- If interested in Regional Science Day, you MUST register on ProjectBoard by the required deadline (check OAS requirements for your competition year)
- Use ProjectBoard's resources to prepare and complete your project, if desired
Complete Project
- Collect data
- Prepare your final written report and abstract
Create Poster
- Prepare your visual presentation
Practice
- Practice delivering your oral presentation
Enjoy the Day
- Share your project at County Science Day and enjoy the experience
Check back
- If you receive a Superior rating at County Science Day, you are eligible for Regional Science Day held in March at Edison State Community College
- If you receive a Superior rating at Regional Science Day, you are eligible for State Science Day held virtually by the Ohio Academy of Science
